SKIN SKIN SKIN, hello old friend.
I've never really delved into the world of beauty; for those who have been reading my circa 2014 beauty posts - you all know that when it comes to beauty products, I'm pretty low maintenance.
A slab of sunscreen mixed with coconut oil, a brush of the eye brow a few strokes of mascara and I'm a pretty happy girl.. but there's a firsts for everything.
Apart from my slight obsession of staying hydrated with water (thanks Antipodes 2L bottle), I can't stress enough how important the right amount of sleep and avoiding highly fatty & sugary foods is. Every body is different, but when you've managed to get into a healthy lifestyle just for you, finding the right type of beauty products will come easier then expected.
I'm no beauty expert, so I'm going to cut to the chase. My skin is normal to dry, sensitive, and "thin" - I rely on morning swims as the ocean does wonders and there are a ton of products I tend to avoid. Rose hip oil does amazing things for my friends, but my skin breaks out with a rash when I use it. I will forever stick to Coconut oil as it keeps my skin consistent and ridiculously soft, but after a year of using; I can say it doesn't really moisturize and hydrate my skin like a Costa Rican summer.
When Shu Uemura approached me to become their Australian Ambassador, there was no way I was going to say no. After two months of experimenting and sticking to a daily routine with their skin care range, it's safe to say that not a day goes by where I am not grateful to represent such an innovative and understanding beauty house - and I stress this with all honesty as there is nothing more important then taking care of yourself and finding the right products to assist in doing so.
For those rookie beauty go-ers, if you haven't delved into the world of Japanese beauty, I highly suggest starting out with Shu Uemura.. there's a special bottle of something for every skin type, and they're English friendly,-so you can read what every bottle holds.
If I have the morning off, I make it my priority to go for a dip in the ocean -there's nothing more refreshing and hydrating for the skin, and the sea is prettymuch my way of prepping the skin and body for the day.
Here's a quick run down of what I'm using this Spring/Summer:
*In order of use
- Ultime 8 Skin Purifier; Shu Uemura has introduced me to oil cleansing.. and I'm pretty hooked/have no idea what I was doing before this. It's worth the price because I feel like it lasts forever. I've had the 450ml for three months now and it's not even 1/4 way through. I use this every night before I shower, it removes all make up (even mascara!) and leaves the skin polished without over drying.. the feeling of massaging oil onto your face every night is also pretty sweet. It comes in 6 different ranges depending on your skin, but I'm using the all in one.
- Tsuya Lotion II; This is my first time using a toner and it's apart of the three step Tsuya moisturizers - I'm using the II which is for normal to dry skin and it makes my face feel funky fressshh.
- Tsuya bouncy fine emulsion and Tsuya youthful radiance generator; These are two different products but they go hand in hand, you can't have one and not the other. They sound as good as they feel. Sometimes I get a little too excited and skip the Lotion part because of how silky and dreamy it feels during and after application. I take these two with me everywhere - I use these every morning and night and it's the perfect base before make up, especially if you're after the dewy look. I always apply the Bouncy fine emulsion and let it sit for a while before using the Radiance Generator - this comes in a little dropper bottle because you only need a few drops. It comes out pearly and shimmery because it has a molecule to reactivate the skin which is pretty crazy but you can instantly tell from the change of colour and glow after application. I also love a super rich moisturizer at night, so this is perfect and pretty much the equivalent of having a bottle of water next to your bed, but for your skin.
