When it comes to Summer, I revert back to my 12 year old self. Summer takes me straight back to school holidays, endless afternoons by the ocean, running around the neighborhood barefoot in friend’s backyards, singing and playing guitar, roadtrips up north, roadtrips down south, sand everywhere - even in bed. Some might hate that, but I love it. Marseille gives me that childlike spirit, the roughness and grit of it’s past histories sprinkle itself through the city, even in it’s recent gentrification - it’s the most ‘downtown’ coastal city I’ve ever been to, and I can’t stop going back. I’ve been heading down south of Paris for the past 3 years, revisiting the same few nooks and crannies along the raw coastline for uninterrupted beach swims and the freshest seafood. One of life’s most intimate pleasures is being able to plunge in cool seawater every morning and afternoon and have the salt of the ocean linger in your hair and clothes. I couldn’t think of a more perfect scene to capture BOTEH’s newest collection. We photographed these in the Calanques of Marseille on a 40 degree Wednesday afternoon.
